The Simpson County Public School System operates seven physical facilities with 4,500 students. The system is fully accredited by the Commission of School Accreditation and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Simpson County averages 210 graduates each year. Fifty-two percent of these graduates pursue higher degrees of education. The high school, as well as the other public schools, offers programs for handicapped and "gifted" students.The Simpson County School District has as its mission to provide a quality formal education for individuals, particularly the youth, in the community. The District believes that the school's most basic and challenging responsibility is to provide for the academic development of students in the school district.

Vocational-Technical Training

Secondary vocational-technical education is available through the public school district at the Simpson County Vocational Technical Center in Mendenhall. The center offers six vocational-technical programs to high school students planning immediate employment in the job market or advanced vocational-technical study. Areas of concentration include intensive business training, horticulture, industrial sewing, diesel mechanics, building trades, and metal trades.
