Simpson County residents are served by two hospitals.Building on a tradition of caring, Magee General Hospital, located in the Town of Magee, has been a vital part of the community of Magee and neighboring areas since 1936.From about two dozen rooms and one doctor, the hospital has grown into a modern health care facility with 56 private acute care rooms, eight of which have telemetry monitoring capabilities, and eight Senior Care rooms. Magee General Hospital has a medical staff of nine physicians, approximately 200 employees and a twenty-four hour physician staffed Emergency Department.
With emphasis on family health care a full range of services are provided, including an After-Hours Clinic, and an Outpatient Clinic that brings a wide range of specialists to Simpson County for the convenience of the community. Specialists include: Cardiologists, Plastic Surgeons, Ear, Nose and Throat Specialists, General Surgeons, Gastrointestinal Specialists, OB-GYN, Opthomologists, Oncologists, a Urologist, and a Lung Specialist. Simpson General Hospital, located in Mendenhall, is a 49 bed publicly owned health care facility. They provide 24 hour emergency services, general hospital care, general surgery.
Simpson General is part of the Mississippi Hospital Association (AHA) is the state organization that represents and serves all types of hospitals, health care networks, and their patients and communities. Over 100 hospitals, health care systems, networks, other providers of care and their over 50,000 employees come together to form MHA.
